Vars is a sunny mountain valley in the Hautes-Alpes of France, sitting at about 1700 meters high with peaks up to 2750 meters. It has four villages and a big ski area called Vars La Forêt Blanche, full of forests and wide views of the Alps. Visitors love skiing and snowboarding in winter, especially on the steep Chabrières piste where speed records happen. The area gets lots of sun thanks to its Mediterranean climate mixed with high altitude. In summer, people hike and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The best time to visit is winter for snow sports or summer for outdoor walks.
